INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – Northern Kentucky University’s Rose Broderick (Cincinnati, Ohio) is the Great Lakes Valley Conference Softball Player of the Week.
Broderick, a freshman shortstop for the Norse, hit .647 last week with seven runs batted in, five runs and three doubles and guided her team to a 3-1 record.
In NKU’s sweep at Missouri-St. Louis on Mar. 17, Broderick finished the day 7-for-10 with three RBI, two doubles and a home run. She was 3-for-5 in the opener which included a solo home run, her fourth of the season. Broderick topped the day with a game-winning two-out, two-run double in the top of the seventh of the nightcap.
The Norse split with Quincy on Mar. 18 and Broderick was 4-for-7 on the day. She helped NKU to a 10-5 victory in the second game of the doubleheader by posting four RBI and a 3-for-4 effort at the plate.
Broderick is hitting .391 on the season with eight doubles, four home runs, 16 RBI and a .621 slugging percentage. She leads the Norse in each category.
Northern Kentucky (16-8, 3-1 GLVC) will travel to Ohio Dominican on Mar. 22 before hosting Lewis and UW-Parkside this weekend.
