William Jewell’s Chelsea Meeks is the Great Lakes Valley Conference Women’s Basketball Player of the Week, it was announced by the league office on Monday. The junior guard helped pace the Cardinals with two division wins last week.
 
Meeks scored 26 points including 12-of-13 from the charity stipe to lead William Jewell in its 71-64 win at Drury. She also added three rebounds, five assists, and two steals. 
 
In Saturday's 73-55 win over Missouri S&T, Meeks scored a game-high 16 points.  She was 2-of-4 from beyond the arc and added three rebounds, three steals, and one assist. 
 
Meeks leads William Jewell in scoring with 13.4 points and also averages a league-best 3.3 steals each time out.  For the season, she’s tallying 3.9 assists, and 3.2 rebounds per game.
 
Meeks’ is the first-ever William Jewell player to be named Player of the Week.
 
Currently, the Cardinals (16-9, 10-7 GLVC) are in fourth place in the West Division, and will close out the regular season at Rockhurst on Thursday, Feb. 28 with tip-off scheduled for 5:30 p.m.
