INDIANAPOLIS, Ind.Northern Kentucky University’s Brian Beltz (Louisville, Ky.) is the Great Lakes Valley Conference Baseball Pitcher of the Week.

  

Beltz, a senior southpaw for the Norse, was a key player in Northern Kentucky’s 4-2 week.

 

He helped the Norse start the week strong with a one-hit, complete-game shutout in their 2-0 win over Bellarmine on Mar. 20.

 

Beltz tossed all nine innings in the nightcap and struck out 12 Bellarmine hitters in the win.

 

His effort lowered his season’s earned run average to 3.86. Beltz is 2-2 in five appearances. He has struck out 28 in 23.1 innings on the year with an opponent’s batting average of .218.

 

Northern Kentucky (8-15, 7-5 GLVC) will return to action at Saint Joseph’s on Mar. 28.

 

Other top performances in the GLVC last week included Bellarmine’s Michael Thompson, Kentucky Wesleyan’s Dean Futrell, Lewis’ Matt Rolle, Missouri-St. Louis’ Mike Lantzy, Quincy’s Nick Dunning, Rockhurst’s Ryan Morgan and UIndy’s Aryn Ross.
