INDIANAPOLIS– Missouri St. Louis’ sophomore catcher Madison Zbaraschuk and freshman pitcher Hannah Perryman have been selected the Great Lakes Valley Conference Softball Player and Pitcher of the Week, respectively, it was announced by the league on Monday.
Zbaraschuk, who earned First Team All-GLVC recognition last season after slugging nine home runs, batted .600 (10-for-25) at the plate to help Missouri-St. Louis to a 3-2 record last week. The Sequim, Wash., native hit safely in all eight games manifesting 11 RBIs and 15 hits, and clubbing her first two homers to give her 11 for her career en route to a 1.000 slugging percentage. Zbaraschuk recorded two hits in seven of eight games, was walked four times, registered six assists, and had six extra base hits against Harris Stowe. In GLVC contests, she went .583 batting average (7-for-12), and led the team with five RBIs, while adding four runs with a slugging percentage of .750 and an on-base percentage of .643 in league play.
Perryman tossed a no-hitter at Kentucky Wesleyan with 14 strikeouts, allowing just two base runners. She hurled a 3-1 record in the circle, after twirling 22.2 innings where she struck out 49 batters to finish with a 1.24 ERA. The Streamwood, Ill., native went 2-0 with a 0.50 ERA while striking out 27 batters in league contests. Perryman also saw time at the plate with 11 looks, two hits, one RBI, and one run scored.
The honor is Zbaraschuk’s first of her career and the second for Perryman since winning the award on Feb. 18, 2013.
The Tritons (6-3, 3-1 GLVC) are back in action on Tuesday, hosting Truman State in a non-conference doubleheader beginning at 2 p.m.
