INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – Southern Illinois University Edwardsville’s Kaitlin Colosimo (Orland Park, Ill.) is the Great Lakes Valley Conference Softball Pitcher of the Week,.
Colosimo, a sophomore pitcher for the Cougars, made two appearances for SIU Edwardsville last week helping the team collect four wins.
She made her first appearance in the Cougars’ 10-2 win over Quincy on Mar. 24. She pitched four innings and did not allow a hit prior to exiting with a 10-0 lead. Colosimo struck out five in the outing.
In SIUE’s 8-0, five-inning win over Missouri-St. Louis on Mar. 25, Colosimo picked up the 22nd no-hitter in school history. She struck out six hitters in the appearance and did not allow a walk in the win.
For the week, Colosimo went nine innings, struck out 11 and did not allow a hit. She is 10-1 on the year with a 1.46 earned run average. She has struck out 62 in 62.1 innings.
SIUE (21-4, 5-1 GLVC), ranked No. 7 nationally in the NFCA/NCAA Division II national poll, will return to action against Central Missouri on Mar. 28.
Other top performances in the GLVC last week included Bellarmine’s Claire Horstman, Lewis’ Courtney Lyons and Quincy’s Megan Corey.
