INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – Lewis University’s Kelly Dianis (Hinsdale, Ill.) is the Great Lakes Valley Conference Softball Player of the Week.
Dianis, a sophomore shortstop for the Flyers, helped Lewis to six wins last week.
She collected two RBIs in Lewis’ sweep of Kentucky Wesleyan on Mar. 23. It was her first action of the season since joining the club after helping the Flyers’ basketball team to a 28-4 season.
In Lewis’ sweep of Northern Kentucky on Mar. 24, Dianis went 5-for-8 with four RBIs, three doubles and a run scored. Included in the effort was a 3-for-4 performance in the nightcap.
She concluded the week by going 3-for-6 with a double in the Flyers’ sweep of Bellarmine on Mar. 25.
For the week, Dianis was 8-for-18 (.444) with six RBIs, four doubles and a run. Lewis (17-4, 6-0 GLVC) has won 16 straight games and sits atop the GLVC standings.
Other top performances in the GLVC last week included Bellarmine’s Kim Locke, Missouri-Rolla’s Ashley Winter, Northern Kentucky’s Sydney Doyle, Quincy’s Jasmyn Wentland, Rockhurst’s Hannah Luttenegger, Saint Joseph’s Cheryl Zakowski and SIU Edwardsville’s Kaeleigh Rousey.
