University of Southern Indiana distance specialist Michael Jordan and Drury University senior high jumper Tory Groover have earned the first Great Lakes Valley Conference Men’s Outdoor Track and Field Athlete of the Week honors of the 2013 season, it was announced by the league on Wednesday.

Jordan, the 2013 GLVC indoor champion in the 3,000 meters, opened his outdoor season with a win in the 3,000-meter steeplechase with a time of 9:02.66 at the Washington University Invitational.  His time currently ranks tops in the GLVC and is second among all NCAA Division II runners.

The Indianapolis, Ind., native earns the second weekly honor of his outdoor career as he was also recognized by the conference as Track Athlete of the Week on April 27, 2010.  Jordan is the first USI student-athlete to receive an outdoor award since Dustin Emerick was named Track Athlete of the Week on April 10, 2012.
