University of Southern Indiana junior distance runner Erika Wilson and Bellarmine University freshman thrower Courtney McIntyre were selected Wednesday as the first Great Lakes Valley Conference Women’s Outdoor Track and Field Athlete of the Week honorees of the 2013 season.

Wilson was honored as the conference’s top track athlete after shattering her personal best time by 12 seconds in the 5,000 meters at last Friday’s Washington University Invitational.  Her winning time of 17:10.17 is currently first in the conference and eighth among all NCAA Division II runners.

The Pekin, Ind., native, who was honored as Track Athlete of the Week once this past indoor season (Jan. 23), earns her first career outdoor award and is the first Screaming Eagle to be recognized since Mary Ballinger earned Track Athlete of the Week accolades on April 20, 2010.
