INDIANAPOLIS – Drury University junior shortstop Caleb Cole and Maryville University freshman pitcher Tyler Omlid have been named Great Lakes Valley Conference baseball Player and Pitcher of the Week, respectively, it was announced by the league office on Monday.

Omlid picked up his first two wins of the season as he notched victories over UMSL and Missouri S&T.  In 16 innings of work, he gave up only 13 hits and surrendered two earned runs. He struck out 10 and did not allow a walk while notching a 1.12 ERA. With runners aboard, Omlid allowed just four hits in 26 at-bats, holding opponents to just .154 at the plate.

Against the Tritons, Omlid hurled a complete-game six-hit shutout in a 3-0 triumph. He gave up just six hits and finished with six strikeouts. The St. Louis, Mo., native followed up with the win against Missouri S&T, where in seven innings of work, he allowed two earned runs and recorded four strikeouts and again did not issue a walk. In addition, Omlid helped himself as he singled, walked and drove in a run in the 5-3 win.

This is the first GLVC weekly award in Maryville’s program history.
