Bellarmine University freshman sprinter Kaysee O’Bannon and University of Indianapolis sophomore jumper Sydney Weinert were selected Wednesday as Great Lakes Valley Conference Women’s Outdoor Track and Field Athlete of the Week, respectively.
O’Bannon was honored as GLVC Track Athlete of the Week after finishing fourth in the 200 meters, sixth in the 100 meters, and second on the 4x100-meter relay squad at the Bellarmine Invitational. Her 200-meter time of 24.59 met the NCAA provisional qualifying standard and is currently tops in the GLVC. Her 100-meter time of 12.21 rates second-best in the conference, while the relay time of 47.69 also sits atop the league charts.
The Louisville, Ky., native earns her first career weekly honor and is the first Knight to earn GLVC Outdoor Track Athlete of the Week since Meghan Jones on May 1, 2012.
