University of Indianapolis senior sprinter Robert Gardner and McKendree University freshman thrower Andrew Ellison have been named the Great Lakes Valley Conference Men’s Outdoor Track and Field Athletes of the Week, it was announced by the league on Wednesday.

As GLVC Field Athlete of the Week, Ellison earns McKendree’s first-ever outdoor weekly honor after breaking the school record this past week with a throw of 178-2” (54.31m) to finish second in the discus at the Southeast Missouri Invitational.  His mark broke the old McK mark of 176’6” set in 2009 by Steve Hammond.  The Lebanon, Ill., native currently ranks first in discus distance among all GLVC throwers.
