Armand Levandi Award Men's Tennis Player of the Week Week Of 4/16/2013 Sport Men's Tennis School Lewis Year Sophomore Position Hometown Tallinn, Estonia High School Audentese Spordigumnaasiumi INDIANAPOLIS – Lewis University sophomore Armand Levandi was named the Great Lakes Valley Conference Men’s Tennis Player of the Week for his efforts in the Flyers’ 1-2 week, it was announced by the league office Tuesday. Levandi went a combined 3-0 at No. 1 singles and No. 1 doubles last week in Lewis’ meetings against McKendree, Bellarmine, and No. 34 Ferris State, respectively. Levandi claimed impressive wins over two regional ranked opponents including No. 19 Gabor Toth of McKendree by scores of 2-6, 6-3, 6-3, and No. 6 Laurent Galarneau of Ferris State, 6-2, 6-3. With the wins, Levandi extended his singles winning streak to nine matches. Partnered with teammate Florian Etienne, the duo teamed up for an 8-6 win over Ferris State’s Laurent Galarneau and Razvan Mag – who are ranked No. 3 in the Midwest Region. The Tallinn, Estonia, native is 5-of-5 when pushed to three sets, and owns a 34-5 singles record, and is 33-6 in doubles play. The honor is Lavandi’s first of his career, and first for Lewis since Erik Aunapuu won the award on Feb. 26. Lewis, the No. 2 seed, faces the No. 3 seed in the West, Rockhurst, on Friday at 11 a.m. in the GLVC Tennis Championship Tournament.
