Bellarmine University junior distance specialist Robert Sandlin and University of Indianapolis junior thrower T.J. Lovejoy have been named the Great Lakes Valley Conference Men’s Outdoor Track and Field Athletes of the Week, it was announced by the league on Wednesday.

Sandlin was invited to compete in the “Showcase” 1,500-meter race at last weekend’s Sea Rays Relays, which included most of the top runners in the field.  The Frankfort, Ky., native did not disappoint, running a 3:51.78 to finish sixth overall in an NCAA provisional qualifying time that is the best in the GLVC on the season.
 
Sandlin earns the first weekly outdoor award of his career and third weekly accolade from the conference, as he was honored as GLVC Indoor Track Athlete of the Week on both Jan. 16 and Feb. 13 of this year.
