INDIANAPOLIS, Ind.Southern Illinois University Edwardsville’s Cory Bunner (Jacksonville, Ill.) is the Great Lakes Valley Conference Baseball Player of the Week.

 

Bunner, a junior shortstop, hit .500 in the six contests and delivered seven RBIs, five runs, two doubles, a triple and two stolen bases.

 

He was 3-for-3 in SIUE’s 3-0 win over UW-Parkside on Mar. 28 and returned for a four-game series with Kentucky Wesleyan to post 10 hits in 20 at-bats.

 

In the non-conference opener against the Panthers, Bunner was 2-for-4 with three RBIs and a double. He capped the weekend with a 4-for-6 performance in the Cougars’ 22-11 win on Apr. 2.

The 22 runs were the most SIUE has ever posted in a GLVC contest.

 

Bunner is now hitting .326 with 11 runs and 15 RBIs on the year.

 

SIUE will return to action on Apr. 7 at Southern Indiana. The Cougars have won seven of their last eight games and sit in fourth place in the GLVC.
