Saint Joseph’s College senior catcher Kolin Conner and sophomore slinger Jordan Peterson have been named Great Lakes Valley Conference baseball Player and Pitcher of the Week, respectively, it was announced by the league office on Monday.
The Saint Joseph's tandem swept the weekly awards after sweeping Lewis University to take sole possession of first place last week in the GLVC East Division.
Peterson shutout the Flyers in game one of the series in a 12-0 win on Saturday. He secured his seventh win in a seven-inning, complete-game performance allowing just two hits and recording six strikeouts. The Chesterton, Ind., native’s presence on the mound has set the tone for the Pumas all season as he now owns a 7-1 record in 10 starts with six complete games. This is Peterson's first GLVC Pitcher of the Week award and the Pumas' first since 2011.
The Pumas welcome the University of Indianapolis to Gil Hodges Field tomorrow in a Tuesday doubleheader starting at 1 p.m. CDT.
