University of Southern Indiana senior Michael Jordan and University of Indianapolis junior pole vaulter Jacob Aldrich have been named the final Great Lakes Valley Conference Men’s Outdoor Track and Field Athletes of the Week of the 2013 season, it was announced by the league on Wednesday.
Jordan finished third in section two of the men’s steeplechase at Stanford’s Payton Jordan Invitational on Sunday night in a personal best and NCAA Division II-leading time of 8:42.63. He is ranked sixth among all NCAA divisions and seventh on the U.S. list, having achieved the “B” standard for the USA Championships.
The Indianapolis, Ind., native earns the second consecutive and fourth weekly honor of his outdoor career as he was also recognized by the conference as Track Athlete of the Week on April 3 and 24 of this year as well as April 27, 2010.
Aldrich finished second overall and first among collegiate competitors in the men's pole vault at the Bellarmine Classic this past weekend. The Indianapolis, Ind., native is currently ranked first among GLVC competitors with an NCAA provisional mark of 4.80 meters.
This is the first career weekly award for Aldrich, who becomes the first Greyhound to earn GLVC Field Athlete of the Week since T.J. Lovejoy on April 17, 2013.
