INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – Southern Illinois University Edwardsville’s Kaitlin Colosimo (Orland Park, Ill.) is Great Lakes Valley Conference Softball Pitcher of the Week.

 

Colosimo, a sophomore pitcher for the Cougars, struck out 31 batters in 21.1 innings of work last week.

 

She posted a 2-1 mark with wins coming against Central Missouri and UW-Parkside.

 

In SIUE’s 3-0 win over Central Missouri on Mar. 28, Colosimo allowed just five hits and struck out six.

 

She returned to post a career-high 16 strikeouts in the Cougars’ 6-1 win at UW-Parkside on Mar. 31. She surrendered just two hits and one unearned run in the complete-game victory.

 

Colosimo had her run of 52.1 consecutive innings without allowing an earned run come to an end in the Cougars’ 3-2 loss at Lewis on Apr. 1. She struck out nine and gave up two earned runs in the loss.

 

For the week, Colosimo was 2-1 with a 0.66 earned run average. She is 12-2 overall this season with a team-best 1.25 ERA. She has recorded 93 strikeouts in 83.2 innings of work.

 

SIUE (24-7, 6-4 GLVC), ranked No. 5 nationally, will return to action against Lincoln on Apr. 3.

 

Other top performances in the GLVC last week included Bellarmine’s Claire Horstman, Lewis’ Courtney Lyons, Missouri-St. Louis’ Alex Ogle, Quincy’s Megan Corey and Saint Joseph’s Sara Somogyi.
