INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – Lewis University’s Kelly Dianis (Hinsdale, Ill.) is the Great Lakes Valley Conference Softball Player of the Week.
Dianis, a sophomore shortstop for the Flyers, helped Lewis to four wins last week over conference rivals SIUE and Southern Indiana.
She was 3-for-6 with three RBIs and a home run in Lewis’ sweep of Southern Indiana on Mar. 31. She belted the game-winning home run in the Flyers’ 6-3 opening game win and was 2-for-3 with two RBIs in the nightcap.
Dianis was 3-for-5 for the Flyers in their sweep of fifth-ranked SIUE on Apr. 1. Included in the effort was a 2-for-3 performance in Lewis’ 3-2 comeback win against Colosimo. She ignited the game-winning rally with a leadoff home run in the bottom of the seventh.
For the week, Dianis was 6-for-11 (.545) with two doubles, two home runs, four RBIs and two runs scored. She is hitting .483 this season with six doubles and 10 RBIs.
Lewis has won 20 straight games and sits atop the GLVC standings at 10-0. The Flyers, ranked 15th in the NFCA/NCAA Division II national poll, are 21-4 overall.
Other top performances in the GLVC last week included Bellarmine’s Kim Locke, Missouri-St. Louis’ Danielle Votrian, Northern Kentucky’s Cara Parker, Quincy’s Missy Weaver, Rockhurst’s Holly Hilton and Saint Joseph’s Stephanie Kickels.
