University of Indianapolis senior running back Klay Fiechter, Kentucky Wesleyan College junior return specialist Jeff Ward, and William Jewell College sophomore linebacker Jimmy DeStefano have been named the Great Lakes Valley Conference Players of the Week, it was announced by the league office Monday.  Fiechter was named Offensive Player of the Week, DeStefano was picked as Defensive Player of the Week, while Ward was selected as Special Teams Player of the Week.

Fiechter recorded 245 all-purpose yards, including a career-high 198 rushing yards on 26 carries in the Greyhounds’ 51-20 win over Saint Xavier.  With the Hounds down one in the second quarter, Fiechter broke off a 49-yard touchdown run for what proved to be the go-ahead score.  The Bluffton, Ind., native also added 47 yards receiving, all coming on a successful screen in the first half.  He now owns the second- (198), third- (196) and fourth-highest (190) single-game rushing totals in GLVC history.  A unanimous first-team All-GLVC running back in 2012, Fiechter earns his first Offensive Player of the Week award and his third weekly honor overall as he was the GLVC Special Teams Player of the Week on Sept. 17 and Oct. 1 last year.
