INDIANAPOLIS – Quincy University senior forward Jaclyn Mastroianni and University of Southern Indiana sophomore goalkeeper Jackie Lohmann have been named the Great Lakes Valley Conference women’s soccer Offensive and Defensive Players of the Week, respectively, it was announced by the league office Monday.
Mastroianni played a key role on both halves of Quincy's GLVC weekend sweep against Missouri-St. Louis and Maryville. The St. Louis, Mo., native broke a scoreless tie in the 88th minute of Friday's 1-0 win over UMSL by firing a shot into the top shelf for her second goal of the season. On Sunday, Mastroianni provided an assist on a Taylor Wakeland's goal that opened the scoring in the Lady Hawks’ 2-0 win at Maryville. The assist gave her 18 for her career, which ranks fifth all-time in school history. The award is Mastroianni’s first of her career, and she is the first Lady Hawk to be recognized by the conference since Brittany Casey was named Player of the Week on Sept. 17, 2012.
