INDIANAPOLIS – The Great Lakes Valley Conference has named Lewis University sophomore right side hitter Alexis Davito and the University of Southern Indiana senior libero Kayla Heldman as its Baden Offensive and Defensive Players of the Week, respectively, it was announced by the league office Monday.

Heldman was tabbed as the league's top defender after guiding the Screaming Eagles to a perfect 4-0 record at the TownePlace Suites Findlay Classic this past week.  She averaged 4.71 digs per set and a .954 serve-receive percentage in 65 chances as the Eagles posted three Midwest Region victories over GLIAC members Findlay (3-1), Malone (3-0), and Hillsdale (3-0) Missouri.  The Greenwood, Ind., native racked up 15 digs in USI's four-set win over Mercyhurst on Friday and had 18 digs against the University of Findlay, a team receiving votes in the AVCA Top 25 poll. On Saturday, Heldman notched 15 digs and seven assists in USI's three-set win over Malone University before concluding the weekend with an 18-dig effort over Hillsdale.  Her performance guided the Screaming Eagles as the Classic Champions, and also earned her All-Tournament honors.  For the season, Heldman is averaging 4.48 digs per frame and is just 113 digs away from breaking the program's all-time career mark (1,490).
