McKendree University sophomore linebacker Alec Gerdes, Missouri S&T sophomore running back Zenel Hudson, and Truman State University junior punter Jacob Lamp have been named the Great Lakes Valley Conference Players of the Week, it was announced by the league office Monday.  Hudson was named Offensive Player of the Week, Gerdes was picked as Defensive Player of the Week, while Lamp was selected as Special Teams Player of the Week.

Lamp averaged 45.2 yards per punt with a long of 55 and no returns once again for Truman as the Bulldogs captured a 24-23 victory over William Penn on Saturday.  His shortest punt of the night came on a 34-yarder that bounced out of bounds at the William Penn two-yard line.  For the season, just two of Lamp’s 15 punts have been returned for a total of two yards and nine have landed inside the opponent’s 20-yard line.  This is the first weekly honor of Lamp’s career and the second time this season a Bulldog has been named Special Teams Player of the Week.  Teammate Tremaine Millender was honored with the distinction on Sept. 9, 2013.
