Rockhurst University senior forward Mark Magee and Lewis University senior goalkeeper Alec Pickett have been named the Great Lakes Valley Conference men’s soccer Offensive and Defensive Players of the Week, respectively, for the second consecutive week, it was announced by the league office Monday.
Pickett turned in yet another impressive performance last week as the Flyers remained unbeaten at 3-0-1 and tied for first in the league standings after road wins at Truman State and Quincy. In nearly 196 minutes of action, Pickett allowed just one goal, which came on a penalty kick in the 2-1 victory at Truman on Friday. He went on to record his third shutout of the season in a 1-0 win at Quincy on Sunday. Pickett now owns a record of 4-0-2 and is holding opponents to 0.59 goals-per-game. This is Pickett’s second Defensive Player of the Week honor of his career.
