Quincy University senior forward Jaclyn Mastroianni and University of Missouri-St. Louis junior back Brooke Barczewski have been named the Great Lakes Valley Conference women’s soccer Offensive and Defensive Players of the Week, respectively, it was announced by the league office Monday.

Mastroianni earns her second straight GLVC Offensive Player of the Week honor after having a part in all three goals in Quincy’s win over nationally-ranked UW-Parkside on Friday before scoring the game-winner in the 86th minute of the Lady Hawks’ showdown with previously-unbeaten Lewis on Sunday. The St. Louis, Mo., native opened the scoring against the 18th-ranked Rangers with a goal in the sixth minute of play, and later pushed the lead to 2-0 in the 72nd minute by converting on a penalty kick.  Following two quick goals by the Rangers to tie the game, Mastroianni sent in a cross for Kristine Vogt, who scored the game-winner in the 88th minute. It was her second assist of the season. On Sunday, Lewis and Quincy were tied 1-1 in the 86th minute when Mastroianni was brought down on a hard challenge in the box.  She calmly converted the penalty kick to provide Quincy with the game-winner, which kept the Lady Hawks perfect at 4-0-0 in the GLVC standings. It was her team-leading fifth goal of the season.  The award is Mastroianni’s third of her career as she was also honored on Sept. 16, 2013 (Offensive Player) and Sept. 10, 2012 (Player).  Conference records (since 1998) indicate that no other player has repeated as GLVC Player of the Week.
