Lewis University sophomore forward Jessica Chavez and Rockhurst University freshman goalkeeper Allison Wallner have been named the Great Lakes Valley Conference women’s soccer Offensive and Defensive Players of the Week, respectively, it was announced by the league office Monday.

Chavez helped the Flyers to a pair of 4-1 conference wins last week against Maryville and Missouri-St. Louis.  She scored twice against Maryville, with her first goal tying the match at 1-1 and the second netter putting the Flyers up 3-1.  The Aurora, Ill., native then picked up an assist against UMSL to register five points on the weekend, while six of her nine shots were fired on goal.  Chavez leads the Flyers and the GLVC with seven goals on the year.  This is the first weekly honor of her career and she is also the first Flyer to be recognized by the conference since Lauren Bowles was named Player of the Week on Sept. 3, 2012.
