Lewis University sophomore forward Jessica Chavez and Rockhurst University freshman goalkeeper Allison Wallner have been named the Great Lakes Valley Conference women’s soccer Offensive and Defensive Players of the Week, respectively, it was announced by the league office Monday.
Wallner earns her first weekly honor after posting a pair of shutouts last week, including 1-0 wins over Southern Indiana and Illinois Springfield. She played in all 180 minutes this past week and collected five saves to improve her season record to 5-0-2 between the posts. The Eureka, Mo., native is the first Hawk to earn a weekly award from the league since Taylor Skala was named Player of the Week on Oct. 1, 2012.
