Indianapolis, Ind. – Quincy University’s Nick Dunning (Trenton, Ill.) is the Great Lakes Valley Conference Baseball Pitcher of the Week.

Dunning, a senior righthander for Quincy, became just the sixth pitcher in school history to record a no-hitter as he blanked Kentucky Wesleyan on Apr. 6, 9-0.

He went all nine innings and struck out 12 Panther hitters while surrendering just two walks. He is the first Quincy pitcher to accomplish the feat since Brandon DeJaynes’ no-hitter in 2003 against UW-Parkside.

Dunning also delivered at the plate for the Hawks as he hit .545 with a double, two RBIs and seven runs scored in the series sweep.

On the year, Dunning is 5-3 with a 2.43 earned run average and 59 strikeouts in nine appearances. He is also hitting .277 with 19 RBIs.

Other top performances in the GLVC last week included Bellarmine’s Adam Chester and Nate Nevin (pitcher), Northern Kentucky’s Kory Lonergan and Josh Lueke (pitcher), Rockhurst’s Tyler Knust and J.P. McGrath (pitcher), SIU Edwardsville’s Cory Bunner and Nick Taylor (pitcher), Southern Indiana’s Casey Geiger (pitcher) and UIndy’s Jake Tranchant.
