University of Indianapolis senior running back Klay Fiechter, Saint Joseph's College junior linebacker Gary Yeoman, and Truman State University sophomore running back Aaron Hartfield have been named the Great Lakes Valley Conference Players of the Week, it was announced by the league office Monday. Fiechter was named Offensive Player of the Week, Yeoman was picked as Defensive Player of the Week, while Hartfield was selected as Special Teams Player of the Week.
Yeoman set a single-game school record with 3.5 sacks in a 34-26 victory at Quincy on Saturday – a win that gave the Pumas their first 5-1 start since the 1979 season. His efforts helped Saint Joseph's registered eight sacks on the night, which fell just 1.5 sacks shy of breaking the all-time school record. On the night, Yeoman led the team with 10 stops, including 5.5 tackles for a loss. The Mishawaka, Ind., native now owns a GLVC-best 4.5 sacks this season. This is his first weekly award and the first time a Puma has been recognized by the conference on the defensive side of the ball in program history.
