INDIANAPOLIS – Drury University senior Sari Higgins has been named the Great Lakes Valley Conference Runner of the Week, it was released by the conference office on Tuesday. 

Higgins finished sixth in the 5,000-meter race at Missouri S&T’s Jackling Jocks Invitational over the weekend, crossing the line in 18 minutes, 33.68 seconds.  She was the top-finishing GLVC runner and 12 seconds faster than the next conference standout.  Her efforts helped the Panthers to 68 points and a second-place finish in the field of nine teams, including GLVC squads McKendree and Missouri S&T.

Two weeks ago on Oct. 1, the Springfield, Mo., native became the first Panther women’s cross country standout to ever been named GLVC Runner of the Week.

Higgins and her Drury teammates will be back in action on Oct. 26 at the GLVC Cross Country Championships at Forest Park in St. Louis, Mo.
