INDIANAPOLIS – McKendree University senior Blake DeLong has been named the Great Lakes Valley Conference Runner of the Week, it was announced by the conference office on Tuesday. 

DeLong finished fifth overall at the Lucian Rosa Invitational, hosted by the University of Wisconsin-Parkside this past weekend.  The Hillsboro, Ill., native’s 8,000-meter time of 25 minutes, 10.2 seconds was tops among all GLVC competitors, including runners from Lewis, Maryville, and UW-Parkside. 

DeLong’s honor marks the first GLVC Runner of the Week award in McKendree history.

The Bearcats are idle this week and will resume their season on Oct. 26 at the GLVC Cross Country Championships at Forest Park in St. Louis, Mo.
