NDIANAPOLIS – The Great Lakes Valley Conference has named University of Southern Indiana junior outside hitter Lauren DeShaney and Rockhurst University senior libero Victoria Mahl as its Baden Offensive and Defensive Players of the Week, respectively, it was announced by the league office Monday.
Mahl was tabbed as the league's top defender for the second time (Sept. 9) this season after guiding the Hawks to a perfect 2-0 record last week. She turned in a team-high 6.86 digs per set in road matches at Maryville (6-17, 1-10), and Missouri-St. Louis (12-9, 6-5). The St. Louis, Mo., native posted a team-high 25 digs to reach double digits in digs for the 18th time this season in the win against Maryville. She then turned in her 75th career double-digit outing with 23 kills during Sunday's 3-0 win at Missouri-St. Louis. Mahl currently ranks fifth in the league averaging 5.12 digs per set.
This week's award is the third career honor for Mahl.
