NDIANAPOLIS – The Great Lakes Valley Conference has named University of Southern Indiana junior outside hitter Lauren DeShaney and Rockhurst University senior libero Victoria Mahl as its Baden Offensive and Defensive Players of the Week, respectively, it was announced by the league office Monday.

DeShaney led USI (16-4, 9-2 GLVC) to a 3-0 record with wins against Midwest Region foe Kentucky Wesleyan (15-4, 5-1 GMAC), and intradivisional victories over Illinois Springfield (5-14, 2-9), and McKendree (5-15, 3-8) last week. She opened the week registering 12 kills and a .526 attacking percentage in the Screaming Eagles three-set victory over the visiting Panthers. On Friday, DeShaney recorded another 12-kill effort, hitting at a .360 clip and adding four blocks as Southern Indiana swept Illinois Springfield in three sets. The Appleton, Wis., native finished the week by matching her season-high with 17 kills and five digs in USI's four-set win over McKendree. For the week, DeShaney hit .329 while recording and 0.20 aces per frame. She leads the Eagles with 3.15 kills and a .237 attacking percentage on the year.

This week's award is the first for DeShaney.
