University of Indianapolis redshirt-sophomore quarterback Connor Barthel, Missouri S&T senior linebacker Chris Horn, and Truman State University junior punter Jacob Lamp have been named the Great Lakes Valley Conference Players of the Week, it was announced by the league office Monday.  Barthel was named Offensive Player of the Week, Horn was picked as Defensive Player of the Week, while Lamp was selected as Special Teams Player of the Week.

Barthel had a near-perfect day in the Greyhounds' 56-3 victory at William Jewell Saturday.  In just his second career start, the redshirt-sophomore finished 19-for-20 passing for 281 yards and four touchdowns.  The latter two marks represented career highs, while the former set a new school and GLVC record for completion percentage in a game (.950).  His completion percentage eclipsed the previous conference mark of .895 (17-19) set by UIndy primary quarterback Chris Mills against Saint Joseph's last year.  Barthel, who has subbed the past two weeks for the injured Mills, threw three of his four touchdowns to his former Indianapolis, Ind., high school (Cathedral) teammate Reece Horn, including a 60-yard bomb late in the first half that gave the Hounds a commanding 35-3 lead at the break.  He also had touchdown passes of 59, 28 and 13 yards in just two-and-a-half quarters of play.  This is Barthel's first career weekly award and the second straight for a UIndy standout as running back Klay Fiechter earned the league's offensive honor last week.
