Quincy University junior midfielder Ethan Venvertloh and University of Indianapolis redshirt-junior goalkeeper Andrew Verhonik have been named the Great Lakes Valley Conference men's soccer Offensive and Defensive Players of the Week, respectively, it was announced by the league office Monday.

Verhonik notched a pair of wins on the weekend, including a four-save outing in the win over Missouri S&T on Friday.  The highlight of the weekend was a diving save by Verhonik on a first-half penalty kick against the Miners, which preserved the shutout and the eventual win by the league-leading Greyhounds. The Plainfield, Ind., native made five saves in 172 minutes of work on the weekend, and is currently tied for fourth in the league in shutouts (4) and seventh in goals-against-average (1.03).  This is his first career weekly honor and the first for a UIndy soccer player since Diego Lemus on Sept. 15, 2008.
