University of Missouri-St. Louis sophomore midfielder Jon Huelsman and University of Southern Indiana senior goalkeeper Jeffrey Neidlinger have been named the Great Lakes Valley Conference men's soccer Offensive and Defensive Players of the Week, respectively, it was announced by the league office Monday.
Neidlinger helped the Screaming Eagles stay in the hunt for a spot in the GLVC Championship Tournament by guiding the squad to a 1-0-1 week. He started the week by preserving a 1-1 double-overtime tie at 11th-ranked Lewis, making four saves on 11 faced shots in 110 minutes of action. He finished the week by recording his third shutout of the season in USI's 3-0 victory at UW-Parkside. He faced 12 shots in the win, making two saves in 90 minutes of scoreless defense. This is the first weekly honor for the Carmel, Ind., native and the first for a USI standout since Josh Weinzapfel was named GLVC Player of the Week on Oct. 29, 2012.
