Rockhurst University freshman midfielder Kristin Wolff and Quincy University senior goalkeeper Jodi Chapie have been named the Great Lakes Valley Conference women's soccer Offensive and Defensive Players of the Week, respectively, it was announced by the league office Monday.
Chapie recorded three shutouts to help the No. 9 Lady Hawks to a 2-0-1 record last week. The senior made 17 saves in the three games and played all 290 minutes. She had a career-high nine saves and a clean sheet in a 1-0 win against Lindenwood on Wednesday before back-to-back road shutouts in GLVC play over the weekend at Drury (1-0) and Missouri S&T (0-0). Chapie has six shutouts in the last seven games, and now has nine shutouts on the season and 37 in her career. That total ranks ninth all-time in NCAA Division II history and second in GLVC history (Lauren Piening, Northern Kentucky (1998-2000, 2004)). The St. Louis, Mo., native earns the first weekly award of her career and is the first Quincy defender to be honored by the conference office since goalkeeper Toni Eye was named GLVC Player of the Week on Oct. 13, 2008. Chapie is also the first Lady Hawk to earn a weekly award from the league since teammate Jaclyn Mastroianni earned back-to-back GLVC Offensive Player of the Week accolades on Sept. 16 and 23 of this year.
