Quincy University junior midfielder Ethan Venvertloh and Lewis University senior goalkeeper Alec Pickett have been named the Great Lakes Valley Conference men's soccer Offensive and Defensive Players of the Week, respectively, it was announced by the league office Monday.
Venvertloh earns his second consecutive Offensive Player of the Week award as he scored two goals and added an assist in a pair of Quincy wins this past weekend. In a 4-2 victory over Illinois Springfield on Friday, Venvertloh assisted on a corner kick that gave Xhovani Dokaj a header in the 46th minute for the team's fourth goal of the match. In the Hawks' 4-3 overtime win at Southern Indiana, Venvertloh netted a header off a corner from Justin Ortinau in the 58th minute. The Quincy, Ill., native then scored the overtime game-winner in the 94th minute when he beat the keeper off a pass from Steve McAnany.
