INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – The University of Missouri-Rolla’s Matt Campbell (St. Charles, Mo.) is the Great Lakes Valley Conference Baseball Pitcher of the Week.
Campbell, a junior southpaw for the Miners, guided his club to a 2-0 win at Drury University on Apr 12.
He tossed all nine-innings to collect the complete-game victory and surrendered just two hits in the outing.
Campbell struck out four and retired 16 straight hitters during one stretch. He did not allow a hit after the fourth inning and the only baserunner allowed after the fourth came on a walk with two outs in the ninth inning.
The win pushed Campbell’s record to 3-3 on the year and lowered his earned run average to 2.74. It was his first complete game of the season and he has made 11 appearances on the year.
Missouri-Rolla (15-19) is now 8-16 in the GLVC and will next play Drury at home on Apr. 17.
Other top performances in the GLVC last week included Kentucky Wesleyan’s Michael Ruby, Northern Kentucky’s Josh Bruns, Rockhurst’s Ryan Morgan, SIU Edwardsville’s Gerad Bryan and Southern Indiana’s Adam Summers.
