Lewis University sophomore Alex Thode has been named the Great Lakes Valley Conference Men's Player of the Month for October, following a vote from the league's head coaches.
 
Thode, like several conference golfers, played in just one event last month.  At the Midwest Regional No. 2 on Oct. 14-15, Thode turned in a 1-under-par 143 (70-73) to finish third overall as he helped the Flyers to finish tied for sixth overall.

For the entire fall season, the Washington, Iowa, native put together an average score of 76.25 through eight rounds.

The Flyers currently sit in ninth in the Midwest Region, which puts the squad in good position to qualify for the NCAA Super Regional in May 2014, after completion of the fall tournament schedule.

This is Thode's first career monthly honor from the conference.
