Binkerd and Bruggeman guided UIndy to a 3-0 record with wins against Saint Joseph’s (3-0), Southern Indiana (3-0), and Bellarmine (3-1) last week, which earned the Greyhounds the East No. 2 seed at this week’s GLVC Volleyball Championship Tournament.
In a sweep over Saint Joseph’s, Binkerd led the Greyhounds’ attack with 40 assists, while UIndy finished with a .279 attack percentage. She also recorded seven digs and two kills in the victory. On Friday, the Greyhounds snapped regionally-ranked No. 3 Southern Indiana’s six-match home conference streak where Binkerd finished with 37 assists, to go along with three kills, nine digs, and two block assists. The Greyhounds won their seventh consecutive match Saturday in a 3-1 victory over Bellarmine. Binkerd posted 51 assists, 10 digs, two kills, and two block assists en route to tabbing her 14th double-double of the season. Her 10 in-conference double-doubles are tied for second highest in the league. The Wabash, Ind., native, is averaging a league-best 11.24 assists per set. She’s assisting a UIndy team that ranks third in the conference for attack percentage and first in kills per set. This week’s honor marks the third recognition of the season for Binkerd; she most recently won the Oct. 7.
