University of Indianapolis senior linebacker Todd Hacker, McKendree University sophomore wide receiver Cameron James, and Saint Joseph's College junior quarterback Tate Borlik have been named the final Great Lakes Valley Conference Players of the Week of the 2013 season, it was announced by the league office Monday. Borlik was named Offensive Player of the Week, Hacker was picked as Defensive Player of the Week, while James was selected as Special Teams Player of the Week.
Seeing his second significant action of the season, Borlik helped erased a 28-0 deficit and lead a Saint Joseph's comeback for a 37-31 overtime win against William Jewell. He completed 26 of 48 passes for 263 yards as the Pumas ran 103 offensive plays to Jewell's 56. Borlik threw two touchdown passes with less than six minutes to go in the game, and with 36 seconds left, he completed passes of 19 and 24 yards to give Gavin Voss an attempt at the game-tying field goal. The South Bend, Ind., native, who also rushed for 36 yards on eight carries, earns his first weekly honor of his career and is the first Puma to win the league's offensive award since fellow SJC quarterback Billy VandeMerkt was given the season's first weekly accolade on Sept. 9.
