Rockhurst University senior guard Brandon McCann has been named the Great Lakes Valley Conference Men's Basketball Player of the Week, it was announced by the league office Monday.

McCann led the Hawks with 52 points in two wins last week. He scored a career-high 30 points on 9-of-14 (.643) shooting in a 95-93 victory at Lincoln on Wednesday and added a team-high 22 points on 6-of-12 (.462) shooting in an 89-70 win against Haskell on Saturday.  He also posted seven rebounds, three steals and three assists on the week.

The Bowling Green, Mo., native finished the week 15-of-27 (.556) from the floor, 9-of-15 (.600) from beyond the arc, and 12-of-14 (.929) from the free-throw line.

McCann, who is averaging 20 points per game for the 2-1 Hawks this season, earns his first career weekly honor from the conference.  He is also the first Rockhurst standout to be recognized as GLVC Player of the Week since Aaron Hill on Jan. 11, 2010.

Rockhurst will next play an exhibition game at Loyola Chicago on Tuesday at 7:05 p.m. CT.
