INDIANAPOLIS – Lewis University freshmen Aidan Brennan and Shannon Sullivan have been named the Great Lakes Valley Conference Men’s and Women’s Swimming and Diving Athletes of the Week, respectively, it was announced by the league office Wednesday following a vote from the conference’s head coaches.
In the Flyers’ 120-103 dual meet victory over Lake Forest College this past Saturday, Brennan won the 200-meter freestyle (1:54.49), resetting the Lake Forest College pool record (1:58.07) set in 1992 by LFSC’s Greg Maurer. Brennan was also the anchor leg in the Flyers’ first-place 200-meter medley relay team (23.31), as well as the anchor for Lewis’ top 200-meter freestyle relay team (51.46). Brennan earns the first weekly award of his career and is the first Lewis swimmer to earn the award since Victor Tarin was recognized by the league last month on Oct. 22.
