INDIANAPOLIS – Lewis University freshmen Aidan Brennan and Shannon Sullivan have been named the Great Lakes Valley Conference Men’s and Women’s Swimming and Diving Athletes of the Week, respectively, it was announced by the league office Wednesday following a vote from the conference’s head coaches.
In Lewis’ 115-108 victory at Lake Forest College, Sullivan not only won the 100-meter freestyle (58.29) and registered the Flyers’ first NCAA B cut time of the season. Her time also broke the Lake Forest College pool record of 59.05 from 2012. Later in the meet, she was the anchor leg (58.51) of the Flyers’ first-place 400-meter relay team (4:07.75). She teamed up with fellow freshman Brittany Kamper, Kara Treacy and sophomore Mackenzie Kummer to break the Lake Forest College pool record (4:11.41) set by a Carthage College quartet in 2007. Sullivan earns her second weekly nod of the year as she was honored on Oct. 22, and also makes it back-to-back awards for the Flyers with Kara Treacy earning the accolade last week.
