INDIANAPOLIS – University of Indianapolis senior Julia Madeira has been named the Great Lakes Valley Conference Women's Swimming and Diving Athlete of the Week, it was announced by the league office Tuesday following a vote from the conference's head coaches.
In a 146-58 dual-meet victory at William Jewell on Saturday, Madeira set a pool record and earned an NCAA "B" standard in the 50-yard Freestyle (:27.04) as well as a pool record in the 100-yard Free (:59.17). The Rio De Janeiro, Brazil, native also contributed to a pool record as a member of the winning 200-Free Relay (1:51.64). Madeira earned her second weekly award of the 2013-14 season as she was also honored on Oct. 15.
Indianapolis will be back in the pool on Nov. 22, as the Greyhounds head to the Woehnker Invitational at Wabash College in Crawfordsville, Ind.
