INDIANAPOLIS – Drury University junior Stanislav Kuzmin has been named the Great Lakes Valley Conference Men's Swimming and Diving Athlete of the Week, it was announced by the league office Tuesday following a vote from the conference's head coaches.
Kuzmin won the 50-yard Freestyle (:21.26) and the 200-yard Fly (1:50.86), and was a member of both winning 200-yard Medley (1:33.18) and 200-yard Free (1:24.47) Relays in the Panthers' home opener against Delta State last Saturday. The Kustanay, Kazakhstan, native helped Drury to a 170-67 victory at Breech Pool and earned his first career weekly award from the conference office. His accolade is the second this season for a Drury swimmer as Kacper Pelczynski was honored as Athlete of the Week two weeks ago on Oct. 29.
Drury will be back in the pool next week, as the Panthers host its two-day Drury Invite on Nov. 22.
