Lewis University sophomore forward Mariyah Brawner-Henley has been named the Great Lakes Valley Conference Women’s Basketball Player of the Week for games played Dec. 3-7, it was announced by the league office Monday.

This marks Brawner-Henley’s second time winning the GLVC’s Player of the Week award this season (Nov. 11).

Brawner-Henley averaged 25.5 points and 16.0 rebounds in victories over St. Francis (Ill.) (74-56) and Purdue Calumet (91-76) this past week.  She charted 20 points and nine rebounds against the Saints in 29 minutes of court time (Dec. 3).  Brawner-Henley capped the weekend with a career-high 31-points and 17 rebounds, and shot 71.4 percent from the field to lead Lewis to a convincing 15-point win over the Peregrines (Dec. 7).  The double-double mark is the sixth of the season and the fifth 20-plus point effort of her career.  She is also the fourth player to tally at least 30 points under Lewis head coach Lisa Carlsen.

For the week, the Skokie, Ill., native shot .658 (25-for-38) from the field and was 1-for-3 (.333) at the free-throw line.  She also added four steals and three assists over the two games to help the Flyers improve to a 5-2 overall record.

Lewis has a nearly two-week break before hosting Lincoln-Memorial on Thursday, Dec. 19 at Neil Carey Arena.  Tipoff is set for 5:30 p.m.
