INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – The University of Southern Indiana’s Paul Jellema (Dyer, Ind.) is the Great Lakes Valley Conference Male Track and Field Athlete of the Week. The junior moved into second on the Eagles’ all-time 10,000-meter performance list by posting a time of 29:17.81 on April 13 at the Mt. SAC Relays in Walnut, Calif.
Jellema placed 12th out of 49 runners in the prestigious event. The time was also an automatic qualifying time in the 10,000 meters for the NCAA Division II Championship.
His place on the Screaming Eagles all-time list is currently between GLVC Hall of Fame inductees Elly Rono and James Nolan.
Other top performers in the GLVC last week included Bellarmine’s Jason Thornsberry, UIndy’s Anthony Flournoy, Lewis’ Adrian Myers, Missouri-Rolla’s Kal-El Walter-Jones and Saint Joseph’s Grant Dean.
