INDIANAPOLIS – Lewis University junior distance specialist Andrew McLain and Missouri S&T junior pole vaulter Ryan McGuire have been respectively named the first Great Lakes Valley Conference Men's Indoor Track and Field Athletes of the Week of the 2013-14 season.

At the Early Bird Meet hosted by Grand Valley State University last week, McLain ran an NCAA provisional time of 14 minutes, 21.97 seconds on the 5,000-meter track.  His time is currently ranked first in the conference and second among on NCAA Division II runners.

This is McLain's first weekly honor in his indoor career and the first for a Flyer since Chris Leibrand was recognized on Feb. 8, 2011.

McGuire excelled at Illinois Wesleyan's Titan First Chance Meet last week with a winning NCAA provisional mark of 15 feet, 9.25 inches in the pole vault.  His height was the best mark recorded in all of Division II this year.

The award marks McGuire's second consecutive indoor honor as he was named the final GLVC Field Athlete of the Week of the 2012-13 season on Feb. 20, 2013.
