Missouri S&T freshman Jon Glaser has been named the Great Lakes Valley Conference Men's Swimming & Diving Athlete of the Week, it was announced by the conference office today.

Glaser, who made an NCAA Division II provisional qualifying mark in five events over the weekend at the Delta State Christmas Invitational, had a hand in two winning events for the Miners at the meet, capturing the 200-yard freestyle and anchoring the Miners' winning effort in the 400-yard freestyle relay.

On Saturday, he recorded a third place finish in the 500-yard freestyle and had a time in the preliminary round of 4:28.13, which not only fell under the NCAA provisional mark but also that for the winter U.S. national meet.  Glaser's win in the 200-freestyle came Sunday, when he led three Miners that made a provisional cut in the event. He had a time of 1:39.69 in the finals after posting a 1:39.46 in the preliminaries to make his cut, then finished the day by anchoring the Miners' 800-yard freestyle relay team that finished second in 6:43.70.  The last two provisional cuts came on Monday, as he placed fourth in the 1,650-yard freestyle in 15:50.77 and completed the meet by anchoring the Miners' 400-yard freestyle relay team to a victory in that event in 3:00.55.

The Wildwood, Mo., native earns the first weekly award of his career and is the third Miner to be recognized by the conference this season as Aljaz Kerc and Ethan Goldfarb were honored on Oct. 8 and Nov. 5, respectively.
